PA GAME COMMISSION HUNTER/TRAPPER EDUCATION COURSE

     This is a six-hour training class required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license. You must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete this training.

NRA PISTOL CLASS

     This NRA Class consists of Classroom and Range Shooting.  Each student may bring their own firearm and ammunition to class or rent our guns.  All firearms will be cleared, inspected for safety/operation and will be UNLOADED.  This course will teach basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes of guns, shooting, cleaning/storage of firearms and essential elements of owning and proper methods of using a hand gun.  Students must pass a written exam and will receive an NRA Certificate upon successful completion.  

Class is limited to 16 students.

Cost:  $40 DSC Members, $80 non-members

     This NRA class consists of Classroom and Range Shooting.  Students should bring their own firearm and ammunition to class or can rent our guns. This course will teach safety, basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes the essential elements of owning and using a rifle, shooting, cleaning, and storage of firearms. Student must pass a written exam and range shooting and will receive an NRA Certificate upon successful completion. 

Class is limited to 16 students.

Cost:  $40 DSC Members, $80 non-members

NEW GUN OWNER/SHOOTER SEMINAR

     This is FREE Seminar for NEW Gun Owners/Shooters.  Basic terms, safety, and review of the various types of guns will be demonstrated.  This is an introductory seminar with no range shooting, or test, and no certificate.  Class is limited to 20 students.  

Cost:  There is NO COST for this seminar

WOMEN ON TARGET CLASS 

                      

     This NRA class is a basic introductory class for WOMEN only. It consists of Classroom and limited Range Shooting. Students should bring their own pistol and ammunition to class or rent our guns.  All firearms will be cleared, inspected for safety, operation and UNLOADED. This course will teach very basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes of essential elements of owning and proper methods of using various types of guns, shooting, cleaning/storage of firearms, will be covered. Class is limited to 14 women only.

Cost: $40 DSC Members, $80 non-members

NRA MUZZLELOADER CLASS

     This NRA class consists of Classroom and Range Shooting.  Class is ~ 8 Hours of training.  Each student MUST bring their own firearm and supplies; powder/ammunition to class.  All firearms (Percussion or Flintlock) will be inspected by the instructor for safety/operation and will be UNLOADED.  This course will teach safety, basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes of guns, shooting, cleaning, and storage of firearms.  The essential elements of owning and using a muzzleloader rifle will be covered.  Student must pass a written exam and will receive an NRA Certificate upon successful completion of classroom and range operations.  Each student must load and fire at least 3 shots that hit the target.  Course will also teach cleaning of the firearm after range operations.  

Class is limited to 5 students.

Cost:  $75 DSC Members, $150 non-members

NRA SHOTGUN CLASS

     

     This NRA class consists of Classroom and Range Shooting.  Class is ~ 8 Hours of training.  Each student MUST bring their own firearm and ammunition to class, or arrange for our rental.  All firearms will be inspected by the instructor for safety/operation and will be UNLOADED.  This course will teach safety, basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes of guns, shooting, cleaning, and storage of firearms.  The essential elements of owning and using a shotgun will be covered.  Student must pass a written exam and will receive an NRA Certificate upon successful completion. Each student must fire at least 10 rounds at moving clay pigeons.   

Class is limited to 14 students.

CONCEALED CARRY CLASS

     Teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. This NRA CCW Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This instructor-led only course gives you direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. Course focus is to meet your State's requirements for a CCW permit. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive reference books, take a NRA CCW Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate. 

Class is limited to 14 students.

Cost:  $80 DSC Members, $160 non-members

LEGAL USE OF FORCE

9:00am - 11:00am

     Learn the difference between reasonable and deadly force. We will also discuss the use of force continuum and conduct a detailed walkthrough of the 4 Pillars for Justifying the use of Deadly Force. This is a must have class for all who would consider using deadly force in defense of themselves or others.

VIOLENT ENCOUNTERS & THEIR AFTERMATH

    Learn and understand the physiological reactions associated with extreme stress. We will also have an in-depth discussion on the immediate aftermath of a use of force incident including dealing with 911 and the police.

SELF DEFENSE FIREARMS BASICS

     You will learn the universal safety rules. How to properly clear and handle semi-automatics and revolvers. In addition, we will discuss choosing the firearm that is right for you. Practice the basics of shooting utilizing our laser simulator and SIRT pistols.

DEVELOPING A PERSONAL AND HOME DEFENSE PLAN

     We will discuss the need for everyone to develop a personal and home defense plan. Learn what conflict avoidance is so important and develop situational awareness skills through mental exercises.
